5 days/4 nights
Availability: from May to Sept 2024

Vieste and the whole Gargano are witnesses of an ancient and fascinating history. In the Gargano we find the signs of the medieval era in numerous villages with fascinating characteristic architectures such as those of Vieste and Peschici, towns built overhanging the sea in strategic places to defend themselves from the incursions of the many dangers that threatened the Gargano.

Furthermore, the Gargano is rich in natural beauties. In fact, it is to be considered a small paradise of biodiversity, holding 40% of the Italian flora and 70% of the birds nested in our country.

Surely the place of greatest appeal in this sense is that of the Umbra Forest, the green lung of southern Italy, about 10,000 hectares of beech groves, oak groves, uncontaminated nature and karst phenomena.

Welcome to Italy! Independent transfer to your accommodation in Vieste.

Accommodation and overnight in Vieste.

Meet your driver and guide in the hotel lobby and start your private tour to discover Vieste-
The guide will welcome you in Vieste and together you will walk through the streets of the center full of dyes and shops.
The entrance to the historic center is clearly defined by an ancient door and a staircase that leads us inside the beautiful city cathedral. After admiring it you will go out through a side door and enter the historic center where small, narrow and picturesque streets alternate with terraces overlooking the sea where the gaze extends to the edge of the horizon, and you will return to the historic center again to then reopen your eyes before to the famous stack known as Pizzomunno, a block of very white stone around which a romantic legend is told.
You will go up towards the Castle to admire the panorama from above, and then down towards the Monastery of San Francesco to find shops and ice cream parlors and to get involved in the atmosphere of eternal vacation that Vieste communicates in every season.
After a stop for lunch, you will continue with our driver towards the coutryside of Vieste and, a few minutes from the Marina di Vieste, you will meet an oil producer who has been producing oil with unmistakable organoleptic qualities for three generations.
Immersed in the company’s centuries-old olive trees, you will be shown the reality of olive oil, some of the main crops of our region and the agricultural techniques related to the plant, as well as the technique of processing olives in the mill. A brief presentation of the company, starting from its early years up to the present day, will simultaneously offer you the opportunity to taste the company’s oil, even in its flavored variants, together with other Gargano specialties and a choice of local wines. After the tastings, some notes on the culinary combinations of the oil will be introduced.

At the end of your experience, return to your hotel.

Overnight in Vieste.

Meet your driver in the hotel lobby and transfer to Peschici.
The coast that goes from Vieste to Peschici is dotted with very original structures that in the past were used for fishing: the famous trebuchets.
Once in Peschici, you will meet our guide and begin the guided tour of the historic centre.
The main point of interest in Peschici is certainly the historic center which is located within the medieval walls interspersed with towers, still visible.
The historic center is typically Mediterranean, with narrow streets, viewpoints overlooking the sea, and white houses with domed and sloping roofs, expressions of different historical periods and dominations.
The Peschici Castle dominates the sea, the first structure built in the current historic center, built by the Normans around the year 1000 on the remains of a Greek castle.
After a brief stop for lunch, free time to spend in Peschici.

Downstream you will find the characteristic small port, the long sandy bay and continuing northwards a rocky ridge with a pine forest and the characteristic “Tower of Monte Pucci” which separates you from the bay of Calenelle and San Menaio.
You will end this experience on Peschici enjoying the sunset from one of the trabucchi of Peschici accompanied by an aperitif.

After this experience, return to your hotel.
