Campania
Why coosing campania for your holiday in Italy
Known for being a land that offers beautiful landscapes and paradisiacal beaches, Campania is a region that really has a lot to offer not only to those looking for a seaside holiday, but also for a historical-cultural journey. Throughout its territory there are many attractions: from archaeological sites to towns set in the rock, from suggestive trekking itineraries to beaches bathed by the crystalline sea. A cultural trip to Campania is a unique experience given that every era has left its mark on the land of this region: from the times of Magna Graecia to the Roman domination, from the years of the Maritime Republics to the Bourbon domination. Between small fishing villages and exclusive cities, Campania manages to conquer all its visitors.
It is impossible to resist the charm of the Neapolitan city thanks to its romantic seafront which hosts not only the Castel dell’Ovo from which you can admire a beautiful view over the entire Gulf but also luxurious hotels and excellent restaurants overlooking the sea. San Gregorio Armeno, the famous Via dei Presepi, is another stop to make to admire the artisans who hand-make the statuettes of the Neapolitan nativity scene and the best time to visit this area of the city is certainly Christmas. The other attractions not to be missed are: the Duomo, Piazza del Plebiscito, the San Severo Chapel, the Maschio Angioino and the Archaeological Museum.
Landscapes overlooking the sea that the whole world envies, small villages with colorful houses and exclusive workshops of artisans who make handmade garments: this is the Amalfi Coast, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Between towns perched in the rock, hotels with panoramic terraces and restaurants housed in a cave, the Amalfi Coast is a place that surprises all its visitors. A unique place in the world, where nature, history and tradition meet and merge and where there are also truly unique beaches. From Amalfi, the main city of the Coast, to Vietri sul Mare, a quiet village famous for its ceramics, visiting this area of the Coast is truly a unique experience. Not to forget Positano, which has become famous throughout the world, not only for its suggestive position, but also thanks to its artisans who make sandals and personalized garments rigorously by hand.
The Sorrento Peninsula is a peninsula with an irregular and jagged coast overlooked by towns that have conquered painters, writers and artists over the years, such as Goethe, Nietzsche and D’Annunzio. The main city of this stretch of coast is Sorrento which gives its name to the whole peninsula, but Massa Lubrense which is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the whole region and Sant’Agata sui due Golfi which rises between the Gulf of Naples and that of Salerno and the historic town of Vico Equense. Kissed by the sun for most of the year and famous for its excellent limoncello, the Sorrento Peninsula is a place to visit not only for its splendid locations but also for its beaches with crystal clear sea.
Also not to be forgotten is the excellent culinary tradition of this region which knows how to conquer everyone with not only pizza but also excellent babà and limoncello.
